Our last performance of 2011 takes place at the Shorewood Bar & Grill in Fridley this Tuesday, December 27th, at 7pm. Come out and share in a cup of holiday cheer while listening to some good music!

According to whoever establishes the official “months” of various ideas, causes, or things, April is jazz appreciation month. How to celebrate? Well, you might consider the suggestions listed here. Another way to celebrate is by checking out some rousing jazz for spring cleaning, namely Nova’s most recent CD, A Time of Reckoning. As we’ve mentioned here before, our Tops in ’10 recording is available on iTunes or at CD Baby.
And there’s more: The Nova Contemporary Jazz Orchestra’s newest recording will be coming out in late summer. Stay tuned for further details.
Don’t forget: Nova will play the Shorewood Bar & Grill on the 26th.

This is a special message from everyone in the Nova Jazz Organization wishing everyone out there a happy and prosperous New Year. We have exciting musical projects in store for 2011. Our performance at the Shorewood Bar & Grill is on the 25th of this month and will kick things off in a big way. Mark your analog and digital calendars! We’ll have a very special guest, so you’ll want to be there.

First, this Tuesday, January 26, the Nova Band will play our first gig of 2010 at O’Gara’s Bar and Grill. As usual, we’ll start at 8pm and play until 11pm. Come on out and enjoy yourself while being witness to live music.
Then, on February 4th at 7:30pm: It’s Jazz 88’s/Big Band Scene’s awesome Battle of the Big Bands in which we’ll be taking on the Acme Jazz Company. The music to be featured comes from composers associated with both groups, including Doug Rasmussen, Bob Parsons, Lance Strickland, Paul Peterson, John Ahern, and Bob Byers.
This concert will be recorded for future broadcast on “Big Band Scene” on KBEM/Jazz 88. No jousting will take place.

Nova’s new recording, A Time of Reckoning, is now available on iTunes. This means that you can buy tracks from our CD “a la carte,” if you care to. As with other offerings in iTunes, the tracks are encoded in high-quality ACC format, ready to go on your iPod.
To find us on iTunes, you’ll need iTunes installed on your computer. (If you happen to use an iPhone or iPod Touch, you’ve already got iTunes, of course.)

Don’t forget! The new Nova CD drops this TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 24, 2009 at O’Gara’s Bar and Grill on the corner of Snelling and Selby in St. Paul. The event starts at 7 pm, and is free to all comers. No ticket is needed, but if you had a ticket, it would look the one pictured here.

Wow, it’s already mid-January! Nonetheless, everyone in the Nova Contemporary Jazz Orchestra would like to wish everyone out there a Happy New Year. In addition to our regular performances at O’Garas, (The next one is the 27th of this Month), we have exciting projects planned for 2009. Stay tuned!
